Netflix show Skin Decision: Before and After is a new series which follows the undergoing of plastic surgery. Season 1, episode 1 follows the story of Katrina.
The show hit Netflix this year. It’s heartbreaking and inspiring motive leaves viewers connected to the storyline.
Episode 1, ‘These Scars Do Not Define Me,’ introduces Dr Sheila Nazarian, a plastic surgeon and Nurse Jamie who is a skin and beauty expert. They help patients whos scars and insecurities were once hidden and transform them into something magical. Both Sheila and Jamie are credited in the show for their extraordinary talent yet it is not the cosmetic fascination that propels the storyline.
Katrina’s story is what gets the attention of the audience and it’s the surgeon’s role to complete procedures that look as natural as possible.
Katrina explains how she got her scars and why she wants them removed. She refers to them as ‘the last thing she needs [to be gone] in order to begin her healing’.

Netflix Skin Decision: What Happened to Katrina?
Katrina is described on the show as a patient who has gone through devastating trauma and her scars show stories that she no longer wants to tell.
It was revealed on the show that on March 23, 2017, Katrina’s ex-husband, Carlton Goodwin killed their two daughters. Lashelle was aged seventeen, while Laila was only four.
He attempted to murder Katrina that night in her home but instead shot himself in front of her. The horrendous attack had Katrina shot nine times. They were living in Maryland, US at the time.
Katrina said on the show: ‘I was shot in my face, I was shot on every limb of my body except for my right leg.’
With such awful emotions and memories linked to her scars, Katrina has bravely come onto Skin Decision to gain peace after her past.
Sheila and Jamie work their hardest for their patients and provide them with cosmetic surgery as well as a new slate.

What Surgery Did Katrina Have Done?
Katrina sat through a full-body surgical procedure which removed the tattoo of her former husband alongside the countless bullet wounds and scars.
After her transformation, Katrina looked overwhelmed by the work and explained “I don’t see him anymore. I see me, I smile at me.”
The touching reality show focuses on the experience of the patient rather than the precision of the surgeons involved and it highlights bitter memories and transforms them into something new and also inspiring.

Katrina has recently been sharing the importance in the Black Lives Matter campaign on her Instagram story and captioned it ‘SELF LOVE.’
It doesn’t seem like Katrina has met anyone romantically. Right now it looks like she is taking the time to cherish herself and grow as a person.
Katrina is a nature lover and likes to be outdoors. She also posts images of animals she has bumped into. Some ducks are her most recent feature!
Her most recent post pictures that she and a friend went on a short relaxing getaway. We hope it was filled with good food and serenity, something Katrina definitely deserves.
