Maya Jama is known as a national fashion icon as well as for her epic DJ skills. However, her statement outfit on BBC’s new show Save Our Summer certainly stunned a few prompting quite the reaction on social media.

She presents the quiz show alongside Peter Crouch and Alex Horne. It brought the biggest names from the worlds of sport, comedy and music back into our lives after a long three months of national lockdown.

Despite a line up of A-Lister celebs including singer Anne-Marie, the attention seemed to be on Maya and her fashion choice.

Maya looked fabulous as she showed off her toned stomach in a white, off the shoulder style top with ruffle detailing. She paired this with light blue, skinny jeans and gold jewellery.

She gave her fans a sneak peak of the outfit before its TV debut on an Instagram post which got over 325,000 likes.

Hitting Back at Trolls After Social Media Stir

The star’s name was trending on Twitter whilst Save Our Summer aired. However some viewers have suggested her style is a little too raunchy for Saturday night TV. Although Maya was quick to defend her choice of outfits.

When one viewer took to Twitter to say they felt “awkward” watching her on the show due to her outfit. Maya personally replied: “I appreciate your concern. I am able and allowed to dress how I please. If you feel uncomfortable by my boobs sitting in my dress that’s on you sis. We’re all fighting for equality and similar treatment to our male counterparts. Don’t let the side down by hyper sexualising my bod.”

She went on to post another statement message on Instagram in which she shut down the critics and promoted her self worth. She said she “refuses to dim herself down”. Maya went on to say “when realise your own power you are unstoppable”.
