Queer Eye Kevin Abernathy became a much-loved hero after featuring on Season 5 of the hit Netflix show.
Queer Eye returned to our screens only a few weeks ago, but since then, fans of the show have been celebrating the transformation of 53-year-old Kevin, thanks to the Fab Five.
The episode followed Kevin Abernathy as Queer Eye’s Fab Five prepared him for this daughter’s wedding. In the end, it wasn’t only his dress sense they fixed, but his outlook on life too.
So where is Kevin Abernathy now? Well, we’re going to take a closer look at his Queer Eye journey, and what he’s been up to since.
Kevin Abernathy – Father of the Bride episode
Queer Eye’s Father of the Bride episode was a very emotional watch for many fans out there!
Kevin Abernathy’s daughter Hayley nominated her dad to appear on Queer Eye season 5. In an emotional scene, Kevin revealed since his divorce four years ago, that he had suffered from low self-esteem and had stopped enjoying life.
One of the Queer Eye Fab Five – Tan France – picked up on Kevin Abernathy’s self-deprecating humour as a way of hiding his feelings. He also noticed that Kevin hid himself in his over-sized clothes – another sign of his low confidence. Hayley hoped appearing on Queer Eye would inspire him to be a happier and more confident person. She wanted him to be able to enjoy her upcoming wedding, as the father of the bride!
Did Kevin Abernathy get his makeover?
In a word, yes. In fact, Queer Eye’s Fab Five transformed Kevin in more ways than one! Tan improved Kevin’s wardrobe by kitting him out with flattering and complimentary clothes. He taught Kevin to be kind, and more sensitive to himself too.
Jonathan made huge improvements to Kevin’s skin and hair, leaving him looking like a new man. The team also gave him a full set of veneers after Kevin disclosed to the Queer Eye team that he was always self-conscious of his teeth.
Queer Eye managed to give Kevin Abernathy his confidence, and also his smile, back again. The team even gave him dance lessons in time for the wedding day!
His daughter Hayley was delighted with her dads transformation, and the father of the bride was pictured smiling on her wedding day!

After Queer Eye – where is Kevin now?
Kevin Abernathy hasn’t appeared in the media since appearing on Queer Eye, and doesn’t use social media. According to his daughter Hayley’s Instagram feed, Kevin has suffered with complications surrounding his diabetes since filming the Father of the Bride episode.
Hayley shared a GoFundMe page to help raise money for her father Kevin as he battled with the disease, particularly for medical bills and modifications to his home. Thankfully, it looks as though he is now on the mend, and he is pictured spending time with Hayley at home in Philadelphia.
