Gottmik is known as an LA-based drag performer and makeup artist who specializes in striking makeovers for his own drag act, as well as makeovers and makeup artistry for celebrities and professional clients.

Recently, Gottmik used his talents with makeup artistry to transform actor and model Cara Delevingne into a drag queen in a hilarious video makeover session shared on the Gottmik social media channels.

As the first transgender man to compete in RuPaul’s Drag Race, Gottmik, who uses she/her pronouns in drag, and he/him pronouns when not in drag, found an international platform to showcase their own brand of glam makeup in a variety of avant-garde outfits. Also known as Kade Gottlieb, Gottmik has a dedicated Instagram makeup account @BeatByKade, and this article is going to revisit some of those famous looks.

Cara Delevingne is the latest performer to collaborate with Gottmik, after he completed makeovers with Kim Petras, Adam Lambert, Steve Aoki, and RuPaul amongst others.

Returning to his YouTube channel after a short break, Gottmik introduced a disguised Cara Delevingne dressed in drag king style, before the makeup artist de-dragged and re-dragged the actor into a new, rock-inspired drag queen look.

Gottmik displayed his makeup artistry to camera as the pair had fun with an over-sized bejeweled hairdryer, chatted about creating the ‘London look’, and discussed how Delevingne watched various shows from the Drag Race franchise on breaks from filming Carnival Row (Amazon Prime Video), as the makeup artist created the actor’s queen look with painstaking ease.

Posting under his @BeatByKade account back in 2019, Gottmik shared a video clip of Queen of Drags judge Heidi Klum’s transformation into a spooky drag makeup look created for the Halloween special.

The clip shows the elaborate process that takes place when creating a new drag look from start to finish, and could be a useful reference for those interested in creating their own drag makeup look.

Another insight into the transformation that takes place before a new drag look, can be found in the makeup session with Gottmik and Pearl Liaison (a former Drag Race contestant from season 7), as the pair chat about their experiences and swap tips as Gottmik gets to work on a brand new look.

Pearl Liaison, is the stage name of Matthew Lent, a drag performer who placed in the final three of their season, and gained over one million Instagram followers after the show.

Gottmik started experimenting with drag as a teenager, and studied at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, before being signed to a makeup agency at 21.

After entering the 13th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Gottmik used his makeup skills and techniques to create a variety of stand-out looks, including the ‘Crash test dummy look’ (above), before eventually finishing the series as a finalist.
